Legislation

One of the benefits of being a member of the New Hampshire Bass Federation TBF/FLW is that we have fellow members willing to invest the time and effort to track pending legislation that might have an impact on fishing, public access, boating, or water quality. Each year I review over 1,000 LSRs and newly introduced House or Senate bills and this year ended up putting 20 bills up on our radar screen. We then make sure that we attend all the various legislative committee hearings on these bills. Oftentimes we write written testimony either supporting or opposing the proposed legislation and also speak in front of the committee. I do this on both the Senate and the House side. See the Legislative Update below on how things turned out for us.

Your Bass Legislative guy is Dick Smith. He could use your help so please contact him at 525-4229. You would need to be in a position to attend legislative hearing during the day at the State Capital in Concord once in awhile. The payoff is that you can single-handedly influence legislation . . . Dick will show you how.

We are also involved with other sportfishing groups, state agencies such as Fish & Game, Dept. of Environmental Services (DES), and the NH Public Water Access Advisory Board. Dick is our delegate to the NH Wildlife Federation and also serves on that organization’s legislative committee as well.

Below you will find the updates on pending legislation and also boat access.
