Youth Directors report: • Ray talked about the Casting Kids Program, and how it’s a viable program through the BASS Federation Nation Affiliation. The JR Bassmasters 2006 Schedule is coming together, and Ray has positive feedback from clubs that they want to get involved to help. Ray commented that the JWC at the Classic in February was awesome. Ray helped with the setup, and saw the new BASS Offices / Building. The Jr Bassmasters from NH did well in practice, not as good during the event, but had a great time. The Casting Kids Championship was very good as well. Legislative & Conservation Director, PVA Director, Tournament Director, State Team Rep, Committee Rep reports / updates: • PVA Director Chris Cote – Chirs thanked everyone who supported last year event with both donations of money and time. The club financial support was greatly appreciated. The goal this year is to raise $5K to support the event. Chris welcomed Gary Clawson – Assistant PVA Director to the team for 2006. This year’s event is anticipated to have 75 participants, so much support is needed. The event is scheduled for September 16th & 17th. They would like the 2006 event to be known as the Scott Krunklevich Memorial, for all he did to support the NEPVA Bass Trail. Donations will be accepted from one and all, please make checks payable to “NEPVA Bass Trail, and send them to either Tiny or Chris. Chris passed out Raffle tickets to support the PVA, $5 each or 5 for $20. Will be raffling $400 in Gift Certificates, 1st place prize is $250 Gift Certificate. • Legislative Director Dick Smith – Dick talked about having 19 Bill’s on his radar. One of particular interest is the new Mercury Bill; the old Bill was modified through the House Committee. The biggest issue is the Coal Plant in Bow, NH. The Speed Limit Bill is coming to a head, it’s important that we communicate our thoughts to the Senators. NHRBA & NHWF have been instrumental in opposing this bill but they need our help. At the recent hearing the opposition was out numbered. In about 2 weeks or so the final vote will be taken whether this bill passes into law or is killed. Don’t let up know, contact the Senators today, and be heard. • Conservation Director Dick Smith – Dick talked about the Habitat Program that BASS is offering this year with $1,000 of funds available. NHBF is working with Gabe Gries the Warm water Fisheries Biologist from NH Fish & Game. The plan is to identify water bodies that could benefit from the introduction of habitat structures, do a baseline study on each, install the structures, and then do annual follow up study’s to measure the impact the additional habitat’s are having on the water bodies. OLD BUSINESS: • Tournament Permits: All permits have been received, and approved. There will need to be a lot of leg work for the Squam & Ossippee Events. Bob Hurst our Tournament Director is looking for volunteers to help him with maintaining the tournament equipment, going through and cleaning up the trailer, and figuring out what if any supplies are needed as we get ready to kick off the 2006 season. • Federation Banquet: The Federation Banquet was a great time for all that participated. It was awesome to see all the Junior Bassmasters at the event. Having the youth’s at this years event really made a statement how our organization has grown and committed to the youth in our State. A special thanks to Vange Kassappis for organizing this years event. Also our two newest directors were awarded Co-Man of the Year Awards, Ray Meyer for the Youth Programs, and Dick Smith for the Legislative & Conservation Program. Awesome job gentlemen you deserve the recognition for all you have done to support our federation. (See Appendix D regarding a financial report from the banquet, and also See Appendix E a critique of the Federation Banquet.) 7:55 PM break taken • B.A.S.S. & The Bass Federation: Dick Smith recapped the events since November 1st, and stressed the importance of being a united state. The concept of a Mother Federation with two subsidiary organizations to house the Federation Nation Program, and the FLW Program is a viable option. Gary Jones the BASS National Director has confirmed that this concept is acceptable. A question and answer session was done to answer any questions. There were basically three options offered to the clubs, BASS Federation Nation Affiliation, TBF / FLW Affiliation, or both. This stemmed some additional discussion because most of the clubs interpreted from the January meeting that they had to choose one or the other, and both was not an option. It was explained that we had been talking about a Mother federation concept for the last two months. It was ultimately identified that the BOD should have been clearer on what the options were to vote on prior to the February meeting, so everyone clearly understood. There were 21 clubs present for the vote, and 2 clubs chose to go with BASS only, 9 clubs chose to go with TBF only, and 10 clubs chose to participate in both, by creating sister clubs. So in essence it looks like 19 clubs will participate in the TBF Program and 11 clubs will participate in the BASS Program. NEW BUSINESS: • No additional items were discussed ADDITIONAL ITEMS: • No additional items were discussed • Items for March Meeting: Reps should be prepared to nominate BOD for TBF & BASS Programs.
